Patch 12.1.5 goes live on Tuesday 13 October in the Americas, with Europe following after its usual maintenance (reported for 14 October). It is a mid-season patch: Season 2 keeps running, but there is new content for every kind of player and the catch-up systems open up a week later.

The Unbinding of Kith’ix

A raid with a single boss, available on Story, Normal, Heroic and a flexible Mythic for 15 to 25 players. That last part is new and matters for smaller guilds: Mythic usually needs exactly 20 people.

Item levels from the PTR suggest roughly 285 on Story up to Mythic loot level, but Blizzard hasn’t published final numbers, so treat any table you see before patch day as a guess. The open question is whether Kith’ix ends Ahead of the Curve: Ula’tek. Blizzard hasn’t said. Our AotC guide covers why we wouldn’t wait to find out.

Labyrinth of Kindo’jan

A nine-chamber challenge built like a delve, with a Tier 11 solo version and Mythic-level gear at the end. If you liked pushing delves on your own, this is the new thing to chase. Expect the first week to be rough while everyone learns the rooms.

Keystone Myth and the new rating ladder

Mythic+ gets a new top milestone: Keystone Myth at a rating of 3600, which awards the title the Venomous Contender. It sits above Keystone Legend at 3000. For most players nothing changes: Keystone Master at 2000 is still the realistic goal for a season, and we wrote a separate guide for reaching it.

Aqir Invasions

Ten-minute open-world events every hour in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman. They are quick, they don’t need a group, and they fit the gaps between keys or raid nights.

Mid-season catch-up from 20 October

  • The crest cap goes away. Until now each crest tier was capped at 100 a week (and the cap accumulated). From the week of 20 October you can earn as many as you can farm.
  • Ascendant Venomstones start dropping. Ten of them raise a fully upgraded Hero or Myth weapon, trinket or necklace. Blizzard hasn’t given the exact item level increase yet.
  • An extra Nebulous Voidcore (a bonus roll) has been available each week from Orin Straylight since the week of 6 October.

Put together, this is the best moment of the season to catch up an alt or a returning character. A week of Mythic+ runs after 20 October goes much further than the same week did in September.

Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, done with you — For players who want the Labyrinth rewards without the first-week learning curve.

What we would do on patch day

  • Raiders: see Kith’ix on Normal in the first week, then decide whether your group pushes Heroic. If Ahead of the Curve: Ula’tek is still missing, prioritise that kill over the new boss.
  • Mythic+ players: nothing resets, so keep filling your vault. If you are close to a milestone, the week of 20 October (crest cap gone) is the week to push.
  • Delvers: run one Labyrinth attempt to see the rooms, then go back to Bountiful Delves until your gear catches up.
  • Returning players: wait for 20 October to start gearing seriously. The catch-up week makes every hour count for more.

What comes after 12.1.5?

Blizzard’s roadmap ends Midnight with Eclipse: The Worldcore raid with eight bosses, the first Midnight legendary (Midnight’s Edge) and more housing. Season 3 starts shortly after it. There is no date for either yet, so plan around the current season for a while.
